When designing a bathroom one of the main focal points in designing the bathroom was the vanity cabinet area. However when trying to design a bathroom with a more contemporary look to it, a bulky box like area doesn't fit into the contemporary design idea. Now a days there are many different options when trying come up with a contemporary bathroom vanity cabinet.

Vanity cabinets offers a lot of space but used to be a little on the bulky or chunky side and took up a bit of space in the bathroom. Now there are options that offer a sleeker more modern look. There are many different varieties of these cabinets that don't even look like cabinets at all!

One option is to have various shelving units that provide the extra storage space but can either be placed on the sides of a sink or placed on the wall so that these cabinets are off the floor. This offers a more contemporary look while offering the shelving and storage that the other vanity cabinet offered.

When thinking about going with the contemporary look it is always helpful to know what you are going to do with the sink. Some sinks need a counter top, however if it is a stand alone sink then the contemporary shelving offers an option to take the emphasis of the shelving unit away from the sides of the sink counter top.

Sometimes the cabinet isn't even connected to the sink but instead is to the side of a larger bathroom or around the mirror. Gone are the days where oak was the only option and there had to be cabinet doors. Instead some of the more contemporary look involves open shelves that allow people to see what type of objects are being stored, at the same time it offers an extra storage area. A variety of colors are available as are styles. There are taller shelving units, smaller units. Besides size there is also the option of a wider unit or a more narrow unit. There are practically hundreds upon hundreds of options available. No matter what way you want to look at it there are plenty of options when looking to convert to a contemporary look
